NEW INDO-ISRAELI BARAK-8 Anti missile defence system for navy

BARAK is a family of surface to air missiles used by the surface ships. It can intercept enemy aircraft and subsonic missiles.The system consists of a command , control ,radar and firing unit. The Radar is the powerful ELTA MF-STAR radar that can scan multiple threats and engage several of them at the same time.

The system is considered to have an active range of 70-80 Kms and is intended to use by Indian and Israeli navy on their surface warships.

The missiles are fired using the Mk 41 standard vertical launch units as shown in the image above. The system was first tested in 2009 and is ready for induction by 2011.
